Relief from
HOW CAN TIK DAH HELP YOU? Tik Dah, including Bonesetting, uses the philosophy of Acupuncture to locate and fix an injury to any part of the body: bones, muscles, ligaments, tendons, veins and nervous system. Whenever possible, treatment is done according to the cause of your physical problem rather than your manifesting symptoms. Treat the cause and symptoms will slowly disappear. On the first treatment I seek to make clear the cause of your pain and the path it is travelling, as pain can move and change direction. This can be distressing and cause confusion as to its cause, leaving you to imagine that all sorts of terrible things are wrong. It is very important to me that we confront and dispel your fears. The age of your injury and your age and health can also determine the outcome of treatment. I encourage everyone, even children, to take responsibility for their healthcare by explaining problems and treatment options so all may confidently make informed decisions on the appropriate health care on offer. In Tik Dah treatment, great care is taken to treat an injury that has any bruising. Traditionally, Chinese doctors call this bruising 'dead blood' and they treat it very seriously.According to the philosophy of treatment in China, when the body has been hurt that part of the body becomes bruised.
This accumulation of dead material
causes serious trouble as it goes deep into the body where it remains.
It will give serious trouble even years later. If nothing
is done, it may eventually become difficult to sit down or walk properly,
or the pain may become constant, especially as you age.
How do I take this bruising away? This depends
on how deeply the body has been hurt.
For example, when you fall over you may hurt either your
elbow or your spine; you may hurt your muscles or your bone.
I need to ascertain exactly where the problem is and sort it out through
the feeling in my fingers. It is a little like a jigsaw
puzzle because often the pain is not exactly at the point of the problem.
Tik Dah draws out the pain-causing substances of wind,
water and dead blood that cause the bruising, swelling and inflamation,
then puts the muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments, blood vessels or nervous
system back into the correct positions. This cannot always
be done immediately. Sometimes when an injury is very old
it can be safer to put things back little by little as the incorrect
position has become normal. In some cases, depending on
the age of the injury and your age and health it may be better to leave
things as they are - removing only the inflaming substances and the
pain. Everything depends on each individual situation.
